Delays never seem like delays from the other side

February 23, 2008 · 4 Comments

I didn’t realise it was 10 days.
I didn’t realise it was 6 days.

I’m behind on blogging. I’m behind on my photo a day.
I’m going to make excuses for it. It’s not my fault.

The culmination of events.
My lack of sleep passed beyond a deniable stage and I sought the assistance of yet another GP. This one resulted in outcomes I won’t be discussing here, but I did get something to help me sleep. Pro tip: If you are anti medication like me. (I don’t like taking it, not other people, so if you have any condition requiring assistance, please take what you’ve been directed to). I just have enough issues and discomfort in life without complicating it.
So as I was saying, if you don’t normally take medication, the first time you do is going to have a big effect. See assumptions were made.
Packaging states people normally take X.
I get given tablets the size of X/2 and am obviously getting half a dose.
Then I get told to take a half a tablet.
So I’m taking X/4 and thinking, I’m 6 foot tall and just on 105kg. I’m a solid guy. I’ll be fine.
No I wasn’t. I felt awful for about 17 hours after taking it.
But now, I sleep. And the feeling is gone. Days have passed though. Are all medications like this? Reading online suggests starting anything is a shock to the system and your body always counters it before reaching an equilibirum. Complex stuff.

I wonder if I’m much more pleasant to be around if I’m sleeping……..

ok, thats done. Let’s continue.

I got the photos up from the wedding. The beautiful awesome wedding. Is the wedding in the blog? No I don’t think I mentioned it after the fact.
So I put the photos online and response from the whole family of (long time reader and commenter “Sell me for a dollar”) was that the photos were loved. Which was a great push for me and my photography. Ego central time, but I think I am a good photographer. On par with the photographers I  talk to and definitely exceeding two or more of them. But I’m always worried about what other people think.
To trim the photos down like I did and get the positive response was a real boost.
It pushed me to ramp up production on my website. Now even though I’m days behind where I should be I’d love to share it with anyone who wants to know. And of course the loyal fans and readers have already seen and love the website.

“Very Professional” and “Really shows off your work” are the two common responses, and it’s close to a 90% positive reaction from 14 people so far. Good times!
The website includes the already functional client area (almost added in the photo ordering as well to save me time) and the to be built tack on website for the second arm of the photo business.

When the site is 100% completed I’ll post it here (and everywhere else I can think of).

Other news, she left. The girl, blogged about, thought about. Gone.
We can mark the chapter as closed, with the exception of a partially asleep timps commenting on a post in his RSS reader. RSS feeds removed. Case closed. International is that extra step of “I’m not doing this”. In fact it came about more intensely during some “why” conversations. And when stepping through and rationalising some of my feelings on things in life, some were easier to let go. Some were very laughable, but I think we all figured the situation with the lady in the red dress was misdirected.

Speed dating.
Interesting experience, terrifying, deceitful and hurtful.
Let’s read on………

Not real speed dating, a world record setting attempt. So  a large portion of attendants were there for support of the charity in question or to be a part of the record not to find a date.
Of the 22 women I met, four were very abrupt and not very interested in any kind of conversation, two were twins. One was a model who wanted me to do a portfolio shoot. One was an exec who we clicked a little with and the last was stunningly gorgeous, personable, a scientist and in 4 minutes personified the perfect date. We finished speed dating, I said it was cliche and could I buy her a drink.
She let out the most gorgeous laugh and took my arm.
We got drinks and chatted and caught up for 15 minutes and then she went to catch a friend and I went to find Chopper.
We ran into each other again an hour later and I got her number, we spoke for another 5 minutes and agreed to catch up later.
All was well, positive etc.

Message the next morning to make sure I had her number right and to give her mine.
Message 3 days later to tee up for drinks……. and she replies to say she’s seeing someone and it wouldn’t be fair……

How surprising. I would have thought giving me your number and saying lets catch up was a reasonable sign of being available……. apparently not.
That’s how speed dating turned out. Was funny though and a couple of mid week Corona’s can’t be sneezed at.

Hoping to have my website done and shown off to everyone next week. And hope everyone is well.
It’s been a rough couple of weeks……… and hopefully this is the clear sailing patch and not the calm before a storm.

Jumper: Seen it.
Smallvilles return to the air: Seen it.
Speed dating scientist leading me on: Didnt see it coming.

How fast is it…….

February 13, 2008 · 3 Comments

Tomorrow I’ve been invited to Speed dating…….. It’s a world record attempt.
And all female tickets sold out early…. Men are apparently a scarce commodity in this city.
Shirt ironed, Jeans Ironed, new socks out.
Razor and cologne in the bag…..

This can only go well. I figure the only way this can go is if I find a date. Anything else….. well I can’t be more single than I am now. And I’m running with a wingman……. comedy gold suggests we pre-arrange it and ask the same women the same questions.

The hiccup I see is my looks. I look young…… even though I’m clearing 30 in 13 months.
Age for women at the event is 20-40. So I’m pretty much right in the middle………let’s hope they know that.
Hate to be shot down by a 32yr old lovely lady because she thinks I’m 22 like the last woman I dated……..

Wish me luck and I’ll post some hopefully not too drunken results tomorrow……

Timps out.

Cloverfield: Seen it weeks ago.
Me going to Speed Dating: Didn’t see it coming.
